Mulled Apple Cider

IMG_0773

For some reason, it has been quite difficult to get into the Christmas spirit this year. We’ve all been a bit too busy, it is not nearly as cold and snowy as it should be and we all seem to be done with Christmas before it has even started – where are you Christmas?? So in an effort to kick start Christmas, we have been on a festive mission – putting the tree up, sorting out our Christmas dinner menu, wearing Christmas jumpers, eating mince pies, buying the turkey, wrapping gifts and playing Christmas music on full blast (sorry neighbours)! We’re getting there. (Also, with the help of Lindt chocolate Santas).

Part of our festive tradition also involves drinking copious amounts of mulled wine – warm and spicy, it is the flavour of Yuletide. However, what with one of us off the drink and the other watching her waistline, we thought we’d try a less potent version but keep the festive spices. And it pretty much tastes like mulled wine too. Score!

Makes 2 large glasses

2 cups cloudy apple juice
1 long cinnamon stick
2 cardamom pods, slightly crushed
2 cloves
1/3 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp orange blossom water

  1. Add all the ingredients to a saucepan.
  2. Heat gently for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour into glasses and enjoy!
